Good post. You make some great points that most people do not fully understand.

"At least this is my case. As many hobbyists game programmer I have started a lot of games, always trying to start small and as my skills were improving going to harder game designs. My biggest problem is still to maintain my motivation high enough to finish the game / application / web / whatever I am currently trying to make and it is a shame, because this last part is probably the part to where I can learn the most."

I like how you explained that. Very helpful. Thanks.

Good post. You make some great points that most people do not fully understand.

"So, it seems that my motivation in making games is just to see my users playing it and most of all having fun with them. And I feel good because I know that the effort I put in making it was worth, even if it was only for another person to have fun for thirty minutes."

Creativity would be my choice. Making games and creating. In fact we are starting a new gaming site where you can play for money in tournament type style gaming. You can register now for free if interested see website, but try to get in before January 2008 when we launch.

One more note about building epdf 0.1.6 in debian. It's pretty easy.
1. apt-get install libcppunit-dev
libcupsys2-dev libpoppler-glib-dev libgtk2.0-dev libglib2.0-dev

2. extract the source tar -xvf epdf* and change into the extracted directory.

3. .configure It will complain about the library versions being too old. Search the configure file for the error message and work backwards from there to find the versions it's looking for stored as $somevariable. Make them pre-debian and the configure will fly.

4. make

5. As root, make install.

Beautiful application! Thank you.

I just built 0.1.6 on Debian Etch.

I made a slight modification to your configure file to accept Etch's older versions of gtk and poppler. It builds and runs nicely in Etch with the older libs.

Excellent application thank you!!

[...] We just released Amoebax a little more than a month ago and we already have more than 40,000 downloads!! I must admit that I am surprised by the amount of people that downloaded it: in my wildest dreams I only hopped for “only” 10,000 downloads so thank you to all of you that tried the game and helping me making my dream come true [...]

I fixed the bugs reported by Yod4z and updated the version to 0.2.1 for GP2X.

I've modified the <a href="http://www.emma-soft.com/games/amoebax/download.html" rel="nofollow">download page</a> already to point to the new <a href="http://www.emma-soft.com/games/amoebax/download/amoebax-0.2.1-gp2x.zip" rel="nofollow">gp2x build</a>.

Thank you :-)
